ERROR 14101

2022-2024 6.7 Cummins ECM Swap Tuning – ERROR 14101

If the error 14101 keeps occurring while trying to program the recovery file to the ECM, follow these instructions.

1. Disconnect both negative battery cables.
2. Open the Ultra SD Card on your computer.
3. Open the Custom folder, then open the ECM folder.
4. Save all .ecm files to your computer.
5. Open the RTG folder, then save all .rtg files to your computer.
6. Open the DATA folder of the SD card, save only the recovery.rmn file to your computer.
7. Update the SD card following these instructions
8. Re-install the .ecm and .rtg files you saved to your computer previously to the ECM and RTG folders, located in the Custom folder of the sd card. (Drag and drop/ or copy and paste the files)
9. Re-install the recovery.rmn file you saved previously to the DATA folder of the SD card. (Drag and drop/ or copy and paste the file)
10. Re-connect the battery cables and connect to a battery charger, charge the batteries while programming.
11. Insert the SD card into the monitor, connect the Ultra OBDII cable to port below the dash.
12. Turn Key to RUN position, press start button twice.
13. Agree to disclaimer if any, on the Ultra.
14. Main Menu > Settings > SCT Internal Test – if the Ultra is successful or if it errors, continue with instructions.
15. Main Menu > Settings > Service Codes > 6625 ENTER – if the Ultra is successful or if it errors, continue with instructions.
16. Main Menu > ECM Tuning > Write Recovery to ECM > Follow prompts.
17. Once recovery is written successfully, continue to program the Custom Tune File – Main Menu > ECM Tuning > ECM > Program Custom File to ECM > Select the .ecm file > Program > Follow Prompts.
18. Your truck is now programmed.

***** If the 14101 error continually displays when writing the recovery, disconnect both negative battery cables again for 20 minutes to reset the ECM, then continue starting at step 11 in above instructions.
